The heating time starts when the pipe and fitting are placed in the welding die.

The welded elements must remain stationary until they cool down for a certain time. Eg: In a plastic pipe with an outer diameter of 20mm, the heating time will be 5 seconds, the welding time 4 seconds and then you have to let it cool for 3 minutes.
